No. Design, personality and security can be adjusted intuitively in the portal. For integration on your website, a short code snippet for insertion is sufficient – completely without technical prerequisites.

⚙️ Technology & Implementation

You create your own account with OpenAI or Mistral AI and securely store the API key in our portal. Your chatbot then sends all requests directly through your personal account – you retain full cost control.

An API Key is a unique authentication token that allows your application to communicate with AI models. OwnKeyBot supports two providers:

  • OpenAI: An OpenAI API Key allows access to OpenAI's AI models (like GPT-5). It's your personal access code to use OpenAI's artificial intelligence services.
  • Mistral AI: A Mistral AI API Key allows access to Mistral's advanced AI models (like Mistral 3 Large). Mistral AI offers competitive pricing and high-quality AI responses.

The API key is used to authenticate requests and track your usage, ensuring you only pay for what you actually consume.

OwnKeyBot supports both OpenAI and Mistral AI. You can choose the provider that best fits your needs:

OpenAI:

  1. Visit platform.openai.com (copy the URL: https://platform.openai.com) and create a free account
  2. Verify your email address and complete the account setup
  3. Go to the "API Keys" section in your dashboard
  4. Click "Create new secret key" and copy the generated key
  5. Paste the key into our portal and select "OpenAI" as provider

Important: You need to add credit to your OpenAI account (minimum $5) before you can use the API. Without credit, the chatbot will not be able to process requests.

Mistral AI:

  1. Visit console.mistral.ai and create a free account
  2. Verify your email address and complete the account setup
  3. Go to the "API Keys" section in your dashboard
  4. Click "Create new API key" and copy the generated key
  5. Paste the key into our portal and select "Mistral" as provider

Important: Mistral AI offers competitive pricing and may require account verification. Check Mistral's current pricing and requirements on their website.

Note: Keep your API key secure and never share it publicly. You can always generate a new key if needed. You can switch between providers at any time in the portal.

Yes. Colors, fonts, logo and avatar can be freely designed – so the chatbot seamlessly integrates into your website design.

After configuration, you receive a short HTML code snippet that you simply insert into your website. The chatbot then appears as a chat widget and is immediately ready for use.

Yes, you have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through our portal.

We offer transparent, monthly subscription plans. You pay a fixed monthly fee for our service, while API costs (OpenAI or Mistral AI) are billed directly to your account based on actual usage.

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time, free of charge. Your service will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Yes! With our Team+ plan, you can create and manage up to 5 completely isolated chatbots. Each bot has its own API keys, knowledge base, chat history, and configuration. This makes Team+ perfect for agencies managing multiple client bots or businesses running separate chatbots for different projects or departments.

Each bot in Team+ is completely independent: separate API keys (you can use different OpenAI or Mistral keys per bot), separate knowledge bases (uploaded files and product feeds), separate chat histories, and separate vector stores. This ensures complete data isolation between bots, making it ideal for managing multiple client projects or different business units without any data leakage or confusion.
